CUB is one of the newer private universities and is still building its identity. A grounded guide for applicants — what's on offer, what's still being built, and what the realistic costs look like.

Canadian University of Bangladesh (CUB) was established in 2014, making it one of the younger private universities to gain UGC approval. It operates from Pragati Sarani (Notun Bazar), a stretch of road that has become a quiet hub for newer private institutions because of proximity to Bashundhara, Badda, and Kuratoli.

Unlike most older private universities, CUB explicitly markets a North American–style academic structure: a credit-based system with summer accelerated terms, a generic-skills core that runs through the first year, and an emphasis on English-medium delivery.

Programs

  • Business Administration: Largest program. Standard BBA with concentrations in Marketing, Finance, and HR.
  • CSE: ACM-style four-year curriculum.
  • English: Communication and applied English focus.
  • Economics: Smaller program.
  • LLB: Four-year undergraduate Law.
  • Architecture (5 years): Newer program; still building its reputation.

Honest Picture

As a younger institution, CUB does not have the deep alumni network of NSU or BRACU. The labs, library, and student-club ecosystem are still developing. Faculty includes a mix of returning Bangladeshi academics with Canadian and US training, along with adjunct industry practitioners.

If you are buying brand recognition for a corporate CV, the older universities still have an advantage. If you are buying a credible undergraduate education with a tighter learning environment and modern teaching standards, CUB is a reasonable option.

Who CUB Suits

Students who value smaller cohorts, a North American–style credit system, and accessibility from east Dhaka. Students who need an established alumni network for immediate corporate placement should weigh that against CUB's relative youth before committing.

How to use this guide

AdmissionTestBD articles are written as practical decision notes for Bangladesh applicants. Read the summary first, then use the verification checklist below before spending money on an application, coaching course, hostel plan, or private university admission form.

  • Confirm the current admission circular and application deadline from the official university or UGC-listed profile.
  • Compare the program strength, campus location, tuition cost, scholarship rules, and commute before shortlisting.
  • Keep screenshots or saved copies of fee, eligibility, and waiver pages because private university pages change often.

Correction and update policy

If a circular, fee, eligibility rule, or official link changes after publication, send the page URL and the updated official source to contact@admissiontestbd.com. We prioritize corrections that affect application decisions, exam preparation, fees, or student safety.
